Terms of Service

Last updated 28 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Thrive. By creating an account you accept them.

Who can use Thrive

You must be 18 or over, and you must give a real date of birth. Sign-up will refuse an account under 18. Once your date of birth is saved you cannot change it yourself — write to us if it is wrong — because the app uses it to decide what you can reach. One account per person. If we close your account for breaking these terms, do not make another.

How to behave

Thrive puts you in touch with real people, sometimes strangers, sometimes in person. The rules follow from that.

Do not harass, threaten, impersonate, or sexually pressure anyone. Do not post another person’s photo as your own, and do not photograph people in the app who have not agreed to it.

Do not use Thrive to sell things, run scams, recruit, or collect other people’s information.

Do not upload anything illegal, anything sexual involving minors, or anything you do not have the right to share.

Games in Thrive include dares and prompts. You are never obliged to do one. Nobody in a game has any authority over you, and “the app told me to” is not a reason to do something unsafe.

Use your judgement about meeting people. Meet in public, tell someone where you are going, and leave whenever you want. We do not run background checks on anyone.

Your content

What you write, photograph and record stays yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people the app is meant to show it to — and nothing beyond that.

You are responsible for what you put in. We can remove content and suspend accounts that break these terms, and we do not have to warn you first when someone’s safety is involved.

Reporting and safety

Every place you can see another person — a Connect profile, a chat, a plan chat, a game lobby, a Bar / Club screen — has a way to block and report them. We read reports and act on them. Blocking is immediate and works in both directions.

Our Safety Policy forms part of these terms, and you agree to it by using Thrive. It sets out what is not allowed here, how reporting works and what we do about it, that we do not run background checks on anyone, how to look after yourself online and when meeting in person, how romance scams work, and where to get help. Read it in the app under Profile → Safety, or alongside these terms on the web.

Sexual conduct with another person without that person’s consent violates our Safety Policy and is a crime, with criminal and civil consequences separate from anything we do about the account.

If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services. Thrive is not an emergency service and cannot help you in the moment.

Paying for Thrive

Thrive is free to use, with a limit on how many games you can host each week. Premium removes the limit and adds features; some occasions are one-off purchases.

Anything you buy is charged through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, under their terms, and subscriptions renew until you cancel them. Cancel through the store, not through us — we cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf.

Refunds are handled by whichever store you bought through, according to their policy.

Events run by venues

A bar or club can run a Thrive night and offer a prize. The venue decides what that prize is, writes the description you see, and hands it over. That prize is entirely between you and the venue: Thrive shows you what the venue promised until you mark it done, but we do not choose it, provide it, guarantee it, or refund it.

Where a venue chooses to give alcohol, the venue is responsible for its own licence and for checking age at the point of service — including the legal drinking age where it is, which is higher than 18 in some countries. Thrive never promises alcohol itself.

We check a venue before its first night. A night cannot run, and its door code does not work, until we have approved it. That check is a reasonable-steps check on the details the venue gives us — it is not an inspection, and it is not us vouching for the venue.

If you are the venue, these terms are yours too. By setting up a night you confirm that you are authorised to run events at the address you gave us; that you hold whatever licences and insurance your local law requires, including for alcohol; that you will check age at the point of service; that you will supervise the night and the handing over of any prize; and that you will not describe a prize you are not able or permitted to give. You agree to cover us for any claim, fine or cost that arises from a night you ran, from a prize you offered, or from any of these confirmations being untrue. We may refuse or end a night, or withdraw a door code, at any time.

Do not drink if you are under the legal drinking age where you are, and do not use a prize to pressure anyone into drinking.

What we do and do not promise

We work to keep Thrive running and to fix what breaks, but we do not promise it will always be available, that the recommendations will suit you, or that you will get on with anyone you meet.

Thrive is not therapy, medical advice, or professional counselling. The coach and your Thrive Score are software, and they are wrong sometimes. If you are struggling, talk to a professional.

Where the law allows us to limit our liability, we do. Nothing here removes rights you have that cannot be waived — including, in the EU and UK, your statutory consumer rights.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we stop running Thrive.

Changes, and getting in touch

We will update these terms when the app changes, and show you material changes in the app. Carrying on using Thrive after that means accepting them.
